REC Audited is a robust audit package that validates compliance with the Employment Agencies Act and Conduct Regulations 2003 and REC Code of Professional Practice. It was established to enable companies such as Quay People to demonstrate their commitment to adding value through the highest possible professional standards.
To achieve this award the REC team of professional auditors conducted a thorough audit of the business, going through such areas of compliance as:
• Equal Opportunities
• Data Protection
• Training and Induction
• Complaints Procedure
• Work Seeker Registration
• Work seeking services
• Overseas workers
• Temporary and permanent workers
• Payments to and from the work seeker
• Dealing with Clients
• Contracts with clients and work seekers
Quay People are holders of REC’s Working towards the Quality Mark
The Quality Mark was launched in July 2002, as a joint initiative between the Department for Education (DfE) and the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) to help drive up standards for everyone in the sector.
The Quality Mark award demonstrates that agencies and local authorities have met a national standard by operating a robust recruitment selection and vetting process when engaging supply teachers. In doing so it gives increased confidence to schools, parents and pupils that staff supplied through them are recruited in line with the DCSF guidance and current legislation requirements.
To achieve Quality Mark status applicants undergo a rigorous application process including a comprehensive on site audit. A further audit is carried out every two years to offer continued assurance that standards are being maintained.
In 2008 Quay People received REC’s certificate for Diversity Assured Recruitment
This certification requires external verification and confirms that Quay People adopt good practice around equality and diversity both in their own recruitment in how they recruit for their clients. Quay People’s pro-active approach is illustrated by the assessor’s report:
“Quay people, although relatively small in size, has demonstrated throughout this audit a commitment to diversity and the equality agenda more befitting a much larger organisation. The underpinning ethos of the D.A.R. award is something that Janette and her team have incorporated into the way business is done at Quay People; in short, they have been able to translate theory into practice and clear policy, ensuring that their business reflects ‘joined up thinking’.”
